Course Materials

The materials provided below are free to use for post-secondary educators, who may wish to use them to individualise or amend existing UArctic and other resources into their own curriculums. These materials provide opportunities to add Indigenous content and resources to UArctic and other courses, to suit the needs of participating institutions. These resource kits are designed to supplement and update indigenous content within the UArctic core course curriculum, found at UArctic - University of the Arctic - Course Materials.

BCS 100: Introduction to the Circumpolar World

Introduces students to the landscape, peoples, and issues of the circumpolar world, including the geography of the Arctic and Subarctic regions and the peoples of the region. 

BCS 311: Lands and Resources I

This course provides an in-depth introduction of the lands and environments that define the Circumpolar North, and the key issues interactions between humans and the environment.

BCS 312: Lands and Resources II

This course will give students a more in-depth understanding of the lands and environments of the Circumpolar North, providing a greater focus on key Indigenous knowledge and perspectives.

BCS 331: Issues of the Circumpolar World I

This course will provides an appreciation of challenges confronting the peoples and communities of the world’s northern regions and will help students understand those challenges.

BCS 332: Contemporary Issues of the Circumpolar World II

This course will provide further insights into the challenges facing the peoples and communities of the North and offer context to these questions.
